Kitchen United is looking to add to its technical product team a highly motivated Technical Writer that has a detailed eye. This person should have a strong foundation in content strategy, writing, and product. They should be able to build relationships and communicate with different audiences in order to provide internal and external customers with positive experiences using content that educates, guides, and supports product installation, upgrades, features, usage, resolutions, and strategic outcomes.
Job Description:
- Explain complicated product features and concepts in simple language using clear messaging with a consistent voice across platforms and media.
- Work closely with technology divisions, product, product sales & marketing teams, as well as collaborating with other cross-functional teams across the organization to create content for product launches.
- Gather and research information for use in technical documentation.
- Create and maintain technical materials, such as equipment manuals, reference guides, stand operating procedures, user guides, maintenance instructions and release notes for both end-users and support staff
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining close attention to detail and meeting tight, frequently changing deadlines.
- Determine the needs of end-users of technical documentation.
- Update and manage the integrated online help system.
- Create, narrate, and edit audio and video content for training and sales enablement.
- Create, refine, audit assets used for presentation decks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, computer science, English, or a related field preferred
- 5 or more years of experience with technical writing, creative writing, editorial writing or help, and support writing.
- At least 1 year of experience creating technical software product content.
- Experience in quality control and managing output for content.
- Strong work ethic, intrinsically motivated, and able to self-direct output
- Task and process-oriented, willing to follow structure and workflow.
- Experience with multiple forms of training and documentation media formats.
- Experience with video editing and audio editing software.
- Experience with or the capacity to learn elementary CSS or HTML style editing.
