JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities include: researching recorded documents, leases and other agreements to ensure compliance; abstracting executed leases, agreements, amendments, and other documents; maintaining summaries of restrictions, exclusives and other development matters; circulating documents for execution and approval.
Secondary responsibilities include drafting legal documents, including commission agreements, listing agreements, estoppel certificates, some leases, amendments, assignments, consents, and other documents; and responding to miscellaneous legal-related requests from the Companys officers, attorneys, asset managers, and others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching recorded documents and executed leases and other agreements to determine Company obligations and restrictions.
- Abstracting executed documents and entering information into the Companys electronic management systems.
- Maintaining summaries of relevant restrictions regarding each property owned by the Company.
- Communicating with Company attorneys and leasing representatives regarding lease terms.
- Preparing draft legal documents, including commission agreements, listing agreements, some leases, amendments, estoppel certificates, assignments, and other documents.
- Ordering OFAC and SOS searches.
- Circulating documents for execution by the Company and other parties.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years of experience as a real estate or transactions paralegal.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with various individuals throughout the company.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible when needed.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from employees, tenants, or government agencies.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rent, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and area.
