Salary : $14.50 / hr
POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists teaching staff in providing day to day care for children enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms, through building positive relationships with children and families, using an approved developmentally appropriate curriculum which promotes routines, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of children in the program.

JOB REQUUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- First Aid / CPR certification (within 90 days of hire)
- Food Handers permit (within 90 days of hire)
- Must be tested for Tuberculosis upon employment, testing done prior to employment will not be recognized
- Initial physical exam within 90 days of hire is required
- Must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Six months experience working with infants and toddlers, experience working in a day care program is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be nurturing and have concern for and understanding of low-income people
- Must be willing to participate in relevant training / education as determined by employee performance evaluation
- Must be aware and sensitive to Section 504 of the rehabilitation Act and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) related to free appropriate education to all children with disabilities identified as needing special education and related services
- Must have reliable transportation to use on the job
- Must be willing to work as a Team Member
- Must believe that such children can benefit from inclusion in a regular Head Start / Early Head Start classroom setting
- Ability to pass a Washington State Criminal background check.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES
- Reports to and accepts assignments form Site Supervisor or Teaching Staff
- Assist site staff in delivering the daily program for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor or Teaching Staff
- Assist in preparing the learning environment for children to include setting up centers with materials and supplies as directed by supervisor or teaching and classroom clean-up
- Responsible for food preparation, food service to children and kitchen clean-up
- Fill in for teacher / teacher aide during break and planning time as requested by supervisor
- Participate in relevant training as requested
- Participate in site team meetings as requested
- Attend KCR All Staff and Head Start Staff meetings unless excused by supervisor
- Notify Supervisor of absence from work with as much advance notice as possible
- Report incidences of suspected child abuse to supervisor or teacher and make required report to CPS
- Accepts other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL / MENTAL FUNCTIONS
- Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending.
- Must be able to get down on the childs eye level and floor
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to withstand exposure to noise in a pre-school environment
- Must be mentally alert and able to react quickly and appropriately when dealing with pre-school age children
- Requires accuracy, good communication, judgement, and the ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information
- Must be able to exhibit regular attendance
