Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is one of the leading animal welfare shelters in our Pacific Northwest region. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless animals. We are committed to upholding an open admissions policy for stray pets, while maintaining an extensive adoption program, a low euthanasia rate, and excellence in all of our services. KHS’s open adoption philosophy is an essential part of our progressive mission, enabling us to save and rehome over 6,000 animals each year.
Adoption Matchmakers create and build families. They take the time to get to know each adopters home and what they are looking for in a new companion animal, and then match them with the pet who is the right fit for their home, while taking into consideration the individual needs of each animal.
Requirements
The Adoption Matchmaker at KHS is an individual with a passion for animal welfare and strong customer service skills. They must be comfortable handling animals of all sizes and types including cats, dogs, small animals, livestock animals, reptiles, and birds. This team member must have confidence handling large dogs, and dogs who may possess challenging behaviors such as pulling, jumpy/mouthy behavior, reactivity, and more.
This team member must have strong communication skills, confidence explaining complex medical and behavioral information, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with compassion and clarity. They must also be dedicated to KHS’ open adoption philosophy and supportive of all KHS programs.
Hours, Compensation and Benefits:
- Part-time position, 25 hours a week.
- The schedule for this position will be Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- Applicants are required to work both weekend days.
- Compensation is $15.10 per hour.
- Benefits include vacation, holiday and sick time accrual plus one free adoption per year.

This is not a temporary position. Drivers license and clean driving record required. Must have high school diploma or GED.
