Job Title: Manager of Transportation
Reports to: Director of Supply
Overview:
This position is responsible for the management of company owned transports and drivers that delivered LP gas to Kiva customers in the western US. Overseeing this group includes scheduling and routing trucks, managing hours of service for transport driver as well as personnel issues, overseeing fleet maintenance and most importantly following and implementing company and governmental required safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Knowledgeable of LP gas operations, storage and loading facilities and regulations related to hazardous transportation
Lead this operation consisting of 10-15 company drivers spread across the Western US and must be able to motivate this team to maintain efficiency and provide safe, efficient, reliable, cost effective transportation support
Review daily workloads, schedules and assignments to ensure efficiencies and customer timely deliveries
Promote a safety culture by ensuring emergency and safety procedures, policies, documentation procedures and equipment operating parameters are within all applicable regulations and by regularly scheduling and conducting safety meetings with department ensuring compliance for all employees
Able to effectively communicate with drivers, marketing/sales, suppliers and internal contacts to ensure proper flow of information to vested parties
Directs and oversees all maintenance, repairs, and periodic replacement of trucks/trailers
Must be able to manage their time well, communicate within the company structure and be willing to be hands on, when needed.
Proven track record of building a good team and developing and maintaining good employees.
Interviews, hires and trains new employees on company policy and procedures, DOT requirements and able to discipline and terminate drivers as warranted
Strong computer literacy with a focus on Word and Excel
Annually develop business plans for Transportation Department and monitor performance vs budget and its contribution to the consolidated Kiva Energy Business Plan
Directs all maintenance, repairs, and replacement of trucks/trailers
Monitor Hours of service compliance
Monitor driver DOT compliance licensing
Approve and maintain payroll timecards
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field or commensurate logistics and transportation experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics role.
2 year supervisory experience in a logistics environment.
In-depth knowledge of and experience with the transportation industry and freight specifically relating to trucking.
Solid decision-making skills, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent project management skills.
Strong business acumen to negotiate and manage contracts and service agreements.
Proven ability to take necessary actions to rectify problems and address gaps.
Strong computer skills and high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
Ability to work with and support others in a positive way.
Entrepreneurial spirit and drive needed to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing company.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
