The KKAC Organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing education and technical assistance to historically underserved/minority farmers, ranchers, landowners, and youth. KKAC conducts outreach to the historically underserved on estate planning, land management, heirs’ property issues, and wealth building opportunities through USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs.
Job Description:
This position offers the opportunity to support the missions of KKAC in a dynamic, fast-paced team-based environment. The accountant plays a critical role that provides financial direction to the Office
Manager/Finance Director and Executive Director of the organization by assisting with grant management and compliance. This includes general ledger accounting and bookkeeping, financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP, payroll and cost allocations. Primary responsibilities will include budget preparation, grants management and accounting services.
Essential Job Functions:
Grants Management
- Prepare reimbursement packages for requesting funds, reports required of the grant including closeouts, and ledger entries to maintain grant activity accounts.
- Maintain the fiscal management of grants & contracts in accordance with government regulations, and donor requirements
- Accurately prepare and submit monthly grant invoices
- Assist with preparation of grant budgets and budget modifications
- Monitor grants to assure compliance with policies for expenditures
- Assist with reporting programs and financial information quarterly, annually, or as needed to agencies.
- Support projects’ funding proposals: assist with budgets, review proposals, provide supporting documents.
- Work with project directors to comply with funder’s terms and conditions, manage deliverables, monitor spending, request amendments, and plan spend-out.
Financial Management
- Review salaries and other expenditures being charged to projects and adjust to ensure correct allocation.
- Analyze and monitor projects’ fund and cash balances and keep the project team informed of status issues.
- Work with the office manager to ensure timely and accurate processing of payables, deposits and billings.
- Generate company financial statements monthly.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements, accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledgers.
- Assist with annual audits.
- Prepare/review filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations.
Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- *Must have bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (will consider experience in lieu of degree)
- *1 year experience in grant and cost accounting
- *Proficient understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced knowledge and experience of spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently
- *Analytical skills

Pay: $34,006.00 - $69,837.00 per year
