Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder's Northern California offices are seeking creative, highly talented, Geotechnical Engineers to help lead a team of engineers, manage projects, and develop client portfolios specifically in the transportation market.  The office supports a variety of public and private clients in the areas of transportation, commercial development, school and university work, oil and gas, power and water projects across Central California, and other locations nationally. The emphasis of the new position would be to oversee and grow our rail, transit and transportation portfolio as well as to deliver on existing projects across many different markets. Specific project types in the transportation market include highways, roadways, bridges, rail, and intermodal facilities during feasibility level studies, design, as well as construction. As part of the assigned duties the Geotechnical Engineer will perform geotechnical engineering design and help prepare engineering reports. This position could include staff supervision and mentoring to assure delivery of industry-specific solutions to our clients.   Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform foundation capacity analysis, slope stability analysis, liquefaction assessments, and settlement analysis
  • Plan, implement, and manage geotechnical exploration programs including assigning laboratory testing
  • Support the preparation of geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for foundations and earthwork for a wide range of projects including transportation, water, retail, hospitality, commercial, etc.
  • Support program managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
  • Support the preparation and presentation of technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions
  • Potential to lead teams and mentor less experienced staff
  • Organize priorities and multi-task effectively
  • Possess a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment.
  Position Requirements: 
  • Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience in consulting engineering firm or related government agency and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations 
  • Experience and working knowledge of 2 of the following:  AASHTO, Caltrans, and AREMA standards 
  • Experience with written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required (Master's in Geotechnical Engineering preferred)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) - or ability to attain within 6 months of hire (Geotechnical Engineer preferred) 

 

This position may require work on projects requiring full vaccination from COVID-19.  If that is the case, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or an acceptable exemption in order to work on the project.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $55,151 - $96,594.
