Geotechnical Engineer (Senior Level)

Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Level Geotechnical Engineer to design and manage projects with a multi-disciplinary team for dam removals, embankment dam repairs, fish passage facilities, recreation facilities, renewable energy projects, and stream restorations. We are looking for someone to join a dynamic team of professionals working on unique projects across the US and Canada.

Multiple office locations in the United States would be considered (including Falmouth, Maine; Portland, Oregon; Redmond, Washington; Strasburg, Pennsylvania; Lexington, South Carolina; and Madison, Wisconsin). Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely. This position would require working from the office a minimum of one day per week to coordinate with project teams and mentor staff.

Salary: $90,000-$150,000/year (based on experience)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil (concentration in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering) or Geotechnical Engineering from ABET or Engineers Canada accredited college/university
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer
  • 10 years of experience in civil engineering
  • Design and construction experience of embankments, deep and shallow foundation design, temporary excavation support, and embankment condition assessments
  • Enjoys collaborating with clients and co-workers and can collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying geotechnical engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's in Civil Engineering with concentration in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
  • Experience performing dam safety, foundation, or construction inspections
  • Experience in slope stability and seepage analyses, preferably with Slope/W and Seep/W software
  • Experience developing geotechnical investigation, monitoring and instrumentation programs, and laboratory testing programs

Additional Requirements

  • Willing to become licensed in other states in which we perform engineering
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada
  • Must be willing to travel periodically and possess a valid driver's license
