Job Title: Security Officer

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports to: Security Director

Job Summary: Provides property protection for the ATCPC Facility through property patrolling (inside and outside), camera monitoring, access point management, and communication to the management team.

Essential Functions

  • Secure facility premises and personnel by patrolling property interior (approximately 45,000 sq. ft).
  • Monitor the surveillance of the facility’s interior and exterior throughout each shift using the surveillance equipment.
  • Inspect the building interior and exterior for abnormalities or suspicious activity and file the corresponding reports for review.
  • Monitor equipment for malfunctions or errors and report all discrepancies to Management personnel and the manufacturer.
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities such as suspicious activities or behaviors to Management personnel.
  • Perform tests on all alarm systems by communicating with the alarm & surveillance equipment manufacturer and following State regulated protocols.
  • Maintain the operational standards of equipment by completing preventive maintenance (by following manufacturer's instructions), troubleshooting malfunctions as directed by the manufacturer, calling for repairs, and/or evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Filing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on general maintenance and repairs (if applicable).
  • Permit entry to authorized personnel (employees) and follow the check-in procedures mandated by the State of Ohio.
  • Restrict entry to specified areas of the facility from unauthorized personnel, and handle visitors based upon State Regulated protocols for office entry.
  • Greet professional visitors and contractors with a high degree of professionalism and politeness.
  • Control all motorized traffic into the facility grounds through automatic gate access.
  • Observe and participate in specified activities, mandated by the State of Ohio, such as waste removal from the facility building, opening and closing of the loading dock’s sally port doors, and escorting visitors and/or contractors when entering the facility.
  • Maintain the Company’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements set by the State of Ohio.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate. Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years as a Security Officer or related title/position
  • Minimum 1 year(s) in Property Protection (exclusively)
  • Minimum 1 year(s) in monitoring surveillance for prolonged periods of time (4-6 hours at a time)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Experience in investigative (private or state) preferred
  • Experience in customer service or office setting preferred

  • Computer Skills – Proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, spreadsheets, camera software, and server access; an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office including electronic mail, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Skype, and Flow; comfortable using a laptop and a tablet.

Other Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation. Valid Driver’s License preferred.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the individual will be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high (loud). The individual frequently works in a controlled climate with chilled to warm temperatures. The individual will be sitting a desk for long periods of time, walking, standing, leaning, and crouching throughout the workday on concrete flooring. The individual will be exposed to plant waste, high amounts of water and general humidity during certain operations and may occasionally be exposed to bright LED lighting. Sufficient PPE will be provided by the Company, such as: LED protective eye wear, waterproof aprons & gloves, non-latex gloves, Tyvek suits, face masks/respirators, gas masks, hair nets, beard nets, if ever necessary.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to work on their feet, and be comfortable walking, crouching, and standing for long periods of time, as well as sitting at a desk for long periods of time.

The individual must be able to monitor cameras through computer screens for long hours and remain alert for up to 12-hour shifts.

The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and adjust as necessary.

The individual may be required to lift to 60 pounds at a time, and occasionally use scaffolding and/or portable ladders.

Stipulation of employment is passing an OHIO BCI and FBI background check in accordance with ORC/OAC 3796.

Employees are not allowed to work on the premises until the badge is activated in the Ohio Department of Medical Marijuana e-Licensing portal.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
