Responsibilities
- Receive incoming telephone calls/visitors and determine the nature of business
- Refer calls to the appropriate staff member
- Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency
- Create, tab, and index paper files and other documents as needed
- Perform data entry and typing consistently on a personal computer
- Use a variety of office equipment (e.g., personal computers, fax machines, copiers, mail equipment, scanners, etc.)
- Communicate with court reporters and customers to schedule telephone conferences, in-person, and video hearings
- Initiate inquiries regarding case processing
- Respond to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office
- Respond to inquiries about appeals and Board procedures following directions from the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field
- Ability to use office equipment (e.g., personal computers, fax machines, copiers, mail equipment, scanners, etc.)
- Proficient in data entry and typing
- Strong communication skills
- 2-4 years of experience in the administrative field or in a related legal assistant area
- Exp. in customer service roles preferred
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
