Summary/Objective
KMS Solutions is seeking a reliability engineer to join our highly motivated team of engineers and technicians. This job would provide submarine class reliability technical support to the Combat Systems Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI.
The candidate will provide support to the Virginia (VA) class new construction by providing reliability readiness-based sparing (RBS) resulting from NPES technology development and new system integration. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the systems in the VACL Functional Requirements Document (FRD) meets the allocated Operational Availability (Ao) requirements and that Standard Allowance Files are delivered to NAVSUP in time to meet the D-12 month Coordinated Shipboard Allowance List (COSAL).

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.
Telework:
This position is eligible for remote work up to 16 hours per week.
Travel:
Up to 10% travel may be required.

Essential Functions
- Thorough Understanding of NAVY (DON) COSAL and RBS model
- Ability to develop RBS models for VA New Construction hulls to include TI-24 Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) and other shipboard systems.
- Develop and submit MARRC-RB checklists and working with Naval Systems Logistics Center (NSLC) until final approval is received for all models developed.
- Ability to develop full initial SAFT loads and submit to NSLC for processing as defined in the PMS450 SRRMP.
- Secret DoD clearance.
- Two to five years reliability engineering experience.
- Experience with reliability modeling.
- Familiarity with Opus Suite and Windchill Courses application.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher engineering, mathematics, physics education.
- DoD 5000, Active-duty Navy, and / or Navy acquisition experience desired, not required.
- Engineering experience specifically with undersea warfare systems and/or Combat systems.
- Four plus years of Navy RMF experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of the customer and company leadership.
- Capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Positive professional attitude.
