Founded in 1974, King Taco began its operation from a converted ice cream truck. On a summer night in 1974, Don Raúl and Doña Lupe stationed their taco truck next to an East LA bar where they became popularly known.
Today, the Mexican fast-food favorite has since expanded to 22 popular locations. King Taco serves a wide variety of authentic Mexican foods, and has been recognized by prominent food critics.
King Taco is one of the few surviving original Los Angeles restaurants.Overview:
The Cashier is the first employee in line for customer service. They greet customers, takes their food and drink order, and verifies order. They make and presents customer’s drink order. They are to up-sale each and every customer. They make correct change and give the customer their receipt.

Essential Duties:
1. Customer Service
a. Welcomes customers with proper King Taco greeting.
b. Takes and discusses the food and drink order preferences with the customer.
c. Asks each customer if they would like something else they have not ordered. If they haven’t ordered a drink they ask if they want a drink. If they have ordered a drink, they ask if they want another item of food, specifying a food item they have not already ordered.
d. Verifies the food and drink order with the customer.
e. Prepares the drink order to Company specifications and gives it to the customer. f. Makes correct change and gives the customer their receipt.
2. Support Functions:
a. Is responsible for having a correct cash drawer. Counts their drawer at the beginning and end of their shift. Notes any discrepancies.
b. Keeps work area clean including but not limited to drink preparation area, Cashier/drink area floors dry, and ice machine area dry.
c. Refills ice, soda and Mexican specialty drink containers.
d. Refills condiment containers such as salsa.
3. Other Duties:
a. Responsible for own personal uniforms and hygiene.
b. May assist in the training of new Cashiers.
c. Performs other related assignments and tasks as required/requested by management such as cleaning restaurant tables, seats and floors.
Physical, Environmental, and Sensory Requirements:
- Consider the standing, sitting, walking, carrying (#lbs. & I.D. objects), climbing, crouching, crawling, lifting (#lbs. & I.D. objects), pushing, pulling, reaching (above head, at body level, below waist) grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination requirements:
- Able to lift, carry and store drink stuffs up to 10 lbs. which will require grasping, reaching, pulling and pushing of equal weight. Must stand and walk on their feet for eight hours with minimal breaks.
- Consider the sensory requirements of touching/feeling, tasting, hearing, speaking, seeing, and smelling:
- Must hear customer orders. Must see to prepare drink orders, present drinks to customers and clean work area.
- Must speak to communicate with customers and coworkers. Must have working knowledge and use of basic English and Spanish (60%).
- Evaluate environmental issues like temperature, noise and uneven ground. List Chemicals used:
- Uses standard cleaning agents when cleaning restaurant, work area and equipment.
