JOB DESCRIPTION:
Systems Validation Manager
Position Summary:
As a System Validation Manager, this individual is responsible for creating and managing the System Validation Plan by providing coordination of Systems Engineers, Validation Engineers (Vehicle and Simulation), Quality managers, Functional Safety managers, and other technical leaders to ensure timely and complete validation of the program releases.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for project specific test strategy (on system level and interfaces to devices and software), specifically in the field of service braking functions.
- Maintains dashboard of test execution to summarize requirements coverage and reacts on changes / delays (prioritization, escalation)
- Leader of Test Result evaluation board (TREB) to evaluate Defect Items together with experts from various disciplines. Objective of TREB is to review and rate new Defect Items for severity and prioritize corrective actions, ensure progress to closure of Defect Item backlog, and document resolution of resolved Defect Items.
- Collaborate and support Release Management Process by providing validation coverage status report, risk evaluation for open tests, risk evaluation of open DIs and evaluation of open system risks.
- Create internal and customer Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) from Requirements Management System (i.e. Windchill, DOORS, etc)
- Provides/Maintenances of basic infrastructure for Test Coverage (Test Library). Align test resource availability, including simulation and vehicles, across organization and within team.
- Communication interface between test organization (test teams), project lead and customer.
- Provides Training for Test Processes and Tools to ensure process conformation (i.e. ASPICE) and champion requirements based validation culture.
- Travel 25% per year to customer sites to support in-person project status reviews and some international travel to Europe and Mexico for team development.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Scrum and Agile
- Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics. (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales)
- Understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.
- Market and product trends in the industry
- Methods to validate assumptions via experimentation.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience as a Systems Validation Manager or Project Manager specifically overseeing a complex project from project initiation to final system release of a complex system or product.
- 3-5 years of working experience in automotive, aerospace, rail, or similar industry providing releasing hardware and software-based control systems.
- Advanced experience in requirements management tools such as Windchill, DOORS, or similar is very helpful.
- Experience using Jira or similar task management system with status reporting design a plus.
- Agile Scrum development environment experience is a plus

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant technical fields required.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience preferred.
