INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIST
Knox Public Health is seeking a full-time Information Technology Administrator. The responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to:
- Evaluate agency IT needs to develop new approaches to increase efficiency
- Work with agency Leadership Team to identify IT and software needs
- Monitor and control computer and peripheral data processing equipment
- Monitor the system for failure and errors and develop applied programs
- Prepare IT and software reports, as needed
- Participate in long range planning for IT and monitor such progress on the IT plan
- Represent agency at selected meetings related to IT
- Ensure agency has capacity for Emergency Response and Data Recovery
- Serve as application administrator, as needed
- Ensure staff are trained and aware of agency policies via appropriate software application
- Participates in project development and securing relative data
- Conduct special projects related to IT and software, as needed
- Monitors and ensures continuity of IT inventory, contracts and service agreements
- Comprehend an extensive variety of technical material
- Audit and test network equipment and infrastructure for security related issues
- Maintain and upgrade, as needed, anti-virus software and definitions
- Ensure that backups are running correctly and are being properly maintained
- Understand fundamentals of multiple internet browsers, Office Suite products and network structure
- Directs the installation, maintenance and repair of network and telecommunications components to ensure performance is at peak efficiency
- Responsible for ensuring work adheres to customer specifications and internal guidelines, including established timelines and budgets
- Coordinates the installation and maintenance schedule for technicians
- Configures, tests, maintains and resolves issues related to LAN/WAN
- Provides troubleshooting support to end users
- Installs workstations
- Manages user account information, including rights, security and systems groups
- Develops and provides training for agency staff on IT issues
- Orients and trains staff on new equipment and software
- Provides team direction/coordination to accomplish program objectives
- Oversees activities of professionals working in the program area
- Manage loaner laptops, loaner cell phones and hot spots
- Meets all job and safety requirements applicable to OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions and is bonded
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in computer science or IT field
- Baccalaureate degree, preferred
- Minimum five (5) years’ IT systems management experience
This position is full-time (40 hours) with normal hours M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary) and include occasional evenings and weekends.
