Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician – FT

MLS: The Medical Lab Scientist performs a variety of tests, many of which are complex, involving numerous steps and techniques and requires the use of professional judgment. Tests may be performed in hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis. Professional application of the principles, theories and techniques of Medical Technology are used to produce reliable test results which aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Bachelor’s in medical Lab Science or related biological science required. At least 1 class in Immunohematology is required. Experience preferred but not required.

MLT: The Hospital Medical Laboratory Technician performs procedures recognized by education, training and experience. These procedures, monitored by the Laboratory Department Director, include a variety of tests, involving numerous steps and techniques. Tests may be performed in hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis. The MLT is responsible for those procedures which require the limited use of independent judgment. Technicians are expected to follow the instructions detailed in the department policy and procedures in their work and use the facilities standards of behavior and customer satisfaction processes.

Job Requirements:

• B.S. in Medical Lab Science or B.S. in related science with 12 months experience in a structural hospital training program (or pass the HEW CLT examination).
• Experience preferred but not required.
• Certification or license: None.
• Must be willing to work weekends as scheduled.
• Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.
