Responsibilities
As a Body Shop Estimator, you would be responsible for ensuring customers’ vehicles are assessed and given a repair estimate, then relaying that information to the body shop technician so that the car can be repaired in a timely fashion. Estimators should pay close attention to detail. Continued training would be provided.
• Assesses damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior design.
• Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
• Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and
doors.
• Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before
accident.
• Determines salvage value of total vehicle loss.
• Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
• Estimates cost of repairing, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged
vehicles.
• Reviews the completed vehicle to check quality and thoroughness
Qualifications
• A self-motivated team player that is able to communicate effectively with team members
• Must be able to stoop, bend, and twist on a daily basis.
• Previous experience in auto body work and repairs is required.
• ASE certification is preferred.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Pass a motor vehicle report and possess a safe driving record.
• Pass a criminal background check and drug test. Also subject to random drug testing at the
company’s request.
