The Quality Assurance Manager is primarily responsible for the overall operations of the QA Department, including regulatory and quality programs, while ensuring customer requirements are met.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct QA department and food safety processes
- Ensure compliance with customer quality requirements, acting as liaison between customers and facility
- Ensure compliance with federal, poultry, sanitation and HACCP regulations, acting as liaison between FSIS and facility
- Ensure successful development, implementation and maintenance of food safety systems
- Oversee HACCP Coordinator in verification of documented corrective and preventive measures for SSOP and HACCP programs, ensuring regulatory requirements are met
- Participate in development of testing method(s), data collection, and other information
- Facilitate team meetings for audit preparation
- Manage and provide leadership and direction for QA team
- Spearhead customer, corporate and third party audits
- Control cost and manage resources within established goals
- All other relevant tasks as needed
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Poultry, Food, Animal Science or other closely related field
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills
- HACCP certification from a HACCP Alliance Approved Instructor
- 3 years QA managerial or supervisory experience
- 3 years Quality Assurance experience, preferably within poultry or meat processing environment
- Excellent computer skills, with advanced Excel reporting knowledge and capabilities
Physical/Environmental Factors:
Typical office environment within a plant setting:
- Use of computer, telephone and other office equipment
- May encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day
- Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen
- Repetitive hand motions, and occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs
- Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels
- Exposure to strong, raw meat odor
