Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Maintenance and Reliability Leader for our Consumer Products operation in Palatka, Florida. In this leadership role you will be key to advancing our Principle Based Management culture and delivering reliable assets to produce high quality products for our customers.
Working closely with the Mill Manager/VP of Manufacturing and your peers you will help steer the overall vision and direction of the mill and contribute your gifts and talents in numerous ways to achieve results for the mill and gain valuable experience. While we believe every individual’s journey toward to self-actualize is unique and should be customized, strong contributions in the Maintenance and Reliability Leader role will prepare you for increased responsibility in various career paths, including mill leadership, COE expert and leadership roles and more.
The Palatka mill and its products are a critical part of GP’s Consumer Products portfolio, including high-profile Angel Soft®, Quilted Northern®, Brawny®, and Sparkle® brands. GP has invested heavily at Palatka in recent years to deliver competitive tissue and towel products including a new towel paper machine. The mill also features two Kraft paper machines and recent investments in a state-of-the-art Daily Operations Center (DOC) – a singular control hub for our asset monitoring. With more than 950 team members, the mill is highly strategic operation for GP and a foundational part of the local community and economy.
Located 45 minutes west of the beautiful beaches of St. Augustine, the mill is nestled in outskirts of the growing city of Palatka. Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and Gainesville are approximately one hour away, and Orlando is only two hours! In an area ideal for many different people, interests, and lifestyles, the Palatka mill is a rare find!
What You Will Do In Your Role

- Helping our teams get better through developing plans to close the gap between how we are doing and what is possible
- Collaborating with Operations Leaders to advance culture and achieve reliability and productivity results.
- Working through your teams to mature the Asset Maintenance Work Process consistent with Georgia Pacific’s Disciplined Operations framework.
- Advancing our knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance concepts and practices
- Leading the effort to improve equipment reliability through gap analysis, predictive, preventive and precision maintenance concepts and utilizing reliability-focused technology
- Practicing stewardship through effective financial planning for multi-year maintenance expenditures, capital improvements, shutdown/turnarounds, and waste elimination
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field or seven (7) or more years of experience in a technical leadership role
- Five (5) or more years of experience working within an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Three (3) or more years of Leadership or Supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports within industrial/manufacturing environment
- Experience with maintenance and reliability concepts such as planning & scheduling, preventive & predictive maintenance, shutdown/turnaround management, mechanical integrity, root cause analysis (RCA) process and predictive maintenance tools.
- Experience managing a financial plan and equipment parts usage
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in developing maintenance financial plans and staffing models for a facility
- Experience working within an integrated Pulp and Paper Mill operation
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Power Distribution and Programming Logic Controller (PLC) familiarity is a plus
