The Model Maker will be supporting and working with the manufacturing and process engineers. You will support product development, proof of concept and prototype for connector products, tooling, and fixtures for machinery.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Support the development of prototype tools, models, and fixtures used for product development.
  • Works from drawings, layouts, sketches, tentative designs, schematics, or a statement of requirements provided by engineering to build tools or models.
  • Learn to set up and operate general tool room equipment specifically: 6 X 12 manual surface grinder holding /- .0002” tolerances, Bridgeport mill holding /- .002” tolerances, and all related support equipment.
  • Program, set-up and operate CNC milling machines
  • Operate CAD systems to review models and prints
  • Learn to use all tool room gauging and inspection equipment.
  • Learn to assemble prototype and pre-production tooling.
  • Maintain accurate records and identification of materials and comply with all ISO procedures and standards.
  • Support and follow company quality and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to Learn.
  • Work closely with the model shop supervisor and engineering staff on all projects from conception to final product.
  • Openly communicate ideas for improvements and/changes when inefficiencies are observed.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 5 years’ experience with CNC operating and programming
  • At least 5 years’ experience with Tool and Die


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Trade school or coursework from an accredited Machine Tool Technology program
  • Experience with operation of Wire EDM
  • Familiar with G-code and M-code programming
  • Knowledge of Esprit programming or equivalent
  • Bench Work: Filing, layout, threading with stock and die, polishing, portable drilling, tapping
  • Ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Experience with basic measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:

  • Remain on feet continuously and to frequently move about the work area to perform required duties
  • Visual Acuity to work with close tolerances
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
