Pilot Line Technician
We are currently looking for technicians to join our Science and Technology Center team, located in Carleton, Michigan.
This position will support R&D pilot line operations including set-up, changeover, and operating R&D pilot line equipment. This role will be responsible for ensuring the on-time delivery of 1st Generation Product, R&D samples, measuring the quality of product, and maintaining a safe work environment.
A day in the life typically includes
- Maintain a safe work environment in all activities
- Complete applicable training and operate processing equipment according to work instructions
- Follow detailed written instructions and standard operating procedures for product assembly
- Ensure timely execution of production orders through use of production management software
- Document activities as appropriate - i.e. logbook, inspection walk throughs, etc.
- Handle glass as necessary for production, according to safe handling practices
- Work in a cleanroom environment and handle materials as needed. This requires ability to lift up to 45lbs on an occasional basis
- Ensure quality standards and cleanroom best practices are followed throughout the manufacturing process
- Utilize tooling and measurement devices accurately and effectively in an assembly requiring precise alignment and attention to detail. Troubleshoot basic mechanical operations/equipment in support of manufacturing
- Assist in the daily cleaning of equipment and production areas
- Suggest equipment modifications to increase machine efficiency and improve quality
- Additional Projects as needed by leadership
- Drive a forklift and support the receiving area as needed
- Record product test data and provide summary notes on results
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct, treating all coworkers with courtesy and respect
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft reports
- Ability to learn operating practices for new pilot equipment
- Commitment to safety and an orderly and safe workplace
- Ability to work as part of a team, including all levels of coworkers and vendors
- Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making, ideas, and all aspects relating to the Pilot Line team, Guardian, and other company relationships
The experience you will bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience technical documentation and draft technical reports
- Experience using measuring instruments
- MS Office Experience
