Barista

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced barista to join our new team. Our mission at Kohiko is to bring Japanese Hospitality to the Houston coffee community while serving high-quality speciality coffee.

One of our goals is to provide a space for everyone to experience the pleasures of Japanese flavors and excellent ambiance. We believe in serving all coffee lovers from all perspectives and will continue to bring our community together to enjoy good coffee.

In our first two weeks of soft opening, a couple of our guests' videos went viral and demand has been high! We believe we have something special to offer and are excited to grow our team early on in our journey.

Our first public soft opening date was June 10th and our Grand Opening is on July 5th!

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks & teas to the Kohiko standard and recipes
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning equipment and utensils
• Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using a cash register or POS system
• Provide friendly and attentive customer service to enhance the overall experience
• Handle food items such as pastries or light snacks as needed
• Make homemade syrups, prep cups, and more preparation duties
• Additional duties may be required

Qualifications:

• 2 years working as a barista is preferred
• Guest-centric attitude and perspective
• Experience using POS systems
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with guests in a hospitable manner
• Food Handler's Certification & knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of hospitality and care to specialty craft coffees
• Familiarity with executing several specialty coffee recipes
• Experienced with specialty coffee pour overs, milk textures, and flavor profiles

• Our pay structure starts at $10/hr tips for baristas. During our soft opening, tips for baristas averaged $10/hr on top of wages and in some cases more. This may change as the company stabilizes after Grand Opening.

Pay: From $10.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
