Kona Dance & Performing Arts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization striving to provide high quality education and instruction in dance and performing arts to the local youth and the Big Island community. Our Vision is to see every Big Island family empowered through dance and performing arts opportunities, while promoting our core values of respect, integrity, positivity, diversity and community.

Kona Dance is seeking an ideal candidate that has a passion for arts administration and possesses the ability to work well in a small team and individually. This person will have the drive to navigate the organization through a time of opportunity and growth.

The Managing Director works very closely with and reports to the Board of Directors. Candidate must be available starting at the beginning of August 2022.

Qualifications:

BA in Arts Administration or equivalent experience in dance and performing arts management experience.

Management experience in the non-profit sector, preferably within the performing arts.

Visionary leadership, ability to motivate a workforce, effective management and delegation, communication and negotiation, PR and presentation skills, strong financial understanding, planning and forecasting.

Job Description:

• Delivers day-to-day operational management across all projects for the organization.

• Responsible for all studio operations.

• Recruitment and retainment of the student body.

• Interact effectively with artists, families, funders, and community.

• Oversee and grow the rental component of studio space.

• Secure funding by creating/ supporting fundraisers.

• Work with the Board Treasurer to develop budgets and reports necessary for appropriate financial oversight.

• Responsible for managing: studio staff, Instructors, student body.

• Work closely with: Program Manager, Development Director, Marketing committee.

• Build relationships with: community dance organizations, non-profit arts organizations, and potential renters.

• Serve as an non-voting member of the Board of Directors and Board committees and attend all Board meetings. Assist the Board President in developing Board meeting agendas.

• Provide, in a timely manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions at and in between Board meetings.
