Position Summary
The Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor is a joint Kootenai Health employee and ISU School of Nursing Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor for the School of Nursing (SON). This position is responsible for the clinical/lab instruction of students in the ISU Nursing Program. Duties include the progressive development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing day to day operations of the ISU SON named partnership and student cohort model. This position reports jointly to the Center for Nursing Excellence director at Kootenai Health and the Director for Undergraduate Studies in Nursing in the ISU SON or as delegated.
Responsibilities
Plans clinical rotations for all enrolled students in the cohort, ensuring completion of all clinical or lab course requirements based on academic curriculum for the program
Supports preceptors assigned to students in the clinical areas for all clinical/lab courses
Plans for and provides internal expertise for simulation lab teaching on-site as needed to meet curriculum requirements in any lab course
Participates in clinical oversight of students in clinical rotations each semester
Collaborates and communicates directly with ISU SON faculty assigned to clinical oversight in course
Participates in regular site visits of leadership on the Kootenai Health system campus, ISU Pocatello or Meridian campuses
Participates in student evaluation in collaboration with course instructor
Teaches didactic and clinical or lab course(s) as assigned each semester with all faculty responsibilities
Facilitates student rotations in rural critical access hospitals in the area
Provides instruction utilizing non-traditional delivery methods at various times which may include evenings, nights, and weekends
Collaborates with leadership in the Center for Nursing Excellence to partner in staff development and pipeline programs
Participates in professional development activities
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho prior to start date
Familiar with current learning technologies
BSN required with enrollment in a Master's in Nursing program with expectation to complete within 3 years of hire; Master's in Nursing or higher degree in Nursing preferred
Minimum 3 years' experience in hospital-based care setting required; hospital-based education experience preferred
Ability to work across professional specialties and a variety of age groups
Advanced professional certification in specialty area encouraged
Excellent oral and written English communication skills
BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
