Lead Epic Principal Trainer

Position Summary
The Lead Epic Principal Trainer is a progressive learning and development professional focused on supporting Kootenai Health's education goals for the Epic EHR and other information systems' deployment, adoption, and optimization activities. Collaborates with other IT team members and operational stakeholders to support implementation, adoption, and education for business and clinical information systems and technologies deployment and optimization. Leads and mentors other principal trainer and members of the training team, organizes and prioritizes assignments, performs peer review and provides technical feedback.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership for an identified group of trainers; mentors and develops other team members through coaching and influence rather than through direct supervision
Monitors and manages work assignments for an identified group of trainers; organizes and prioritizes tasks, tickets and deliverables
Leads Incident Management and Problem Management efforts
Designs, writes, creates, and maintains curriculum and adoption materials, including multimedia deliverables, to lead in-person and virtual instructor-led training, self-paced online learning, and other system adoption initiatives for a variety of audiences as assigned
Incorporates instructional design best practices and adult learning theories to address a target audience's learning needs
Supports, designs, and maintains technical training environments needed for education delivery including support of the Epic Credential Training Program Trouble-shoot issues related to scenarios and system training environments
Works with Principal Trainers from Epic Community Connect host and other Affiliate programs to support Epic MST and ACE environment(s), and other tools as assigned
Collaborates regularly and closely with application and build analysts and teams so that educational design is consistent with workflows and application build
Trains, mentors, and communicates with Kootenai Affiliates, Community Connect, and other Epic Credential Trainers
Assists with the content to build out the Epic program course catalogs and course schedules
Ensures all scheduled classes are covered with appropriate lead instructors and support teams
Assists with the completion of the Epic training calculator
Develops and analyzes assessments, evaluations, and other feedback mechanisms to determine effectiveness of education deliverables and delivery, providing recommendations for and/or instituting improvements in accordance with best practice and adult learning theory to achieve education goals
Supports role mapping and training logistical planning
Develops communication related to education efforts for deployments, upgrades, optimizations and other system changes as assigned
Maintains understanding of workflows, policies, procedures and constraints in core clinical or business area(s) of responsibility
Successfully completes and maintains certification(s) in assigned Epic applications and modules
Other duties, including analyst build in certified or proficient applications, as assigned
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Performs other related duties as assigned
Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Organizational Development, Informatics, healthcare or equivalent education/experience required
4 years' experience in roles focused on designing and writing education and training materials and/or delivering training or informatics support in a complex healthcare environment preferred
Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
Other required system application certifications to complete work as assigned
Clinical licensure and work experience (i.e., Nursing, Respiratory Therapist, Technologist, Pharmacist, Clinical Lab) that relate to assigned clinical applications preferred
Recent work experience in revenue cycle operations for assigned revenue cycle applications (i.e., Admitting/Registration, Billing and Collections, Health Information Management, Single Billing Office) preferred
Epic certification in one or more Epic modules as assigned.
Certification to be initiated as directed and completed within 90 days from commencement of Epic training. Must remain current in certification or proficiency
Comprehensive understanding of clinical or business principles to evaluate information system needs
Familiarity with diverse healthcare information systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience working with online project document repositories (i.e., SharePoint)
Ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously with confidence and independence through to completion
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with project/program deadlines
Understand and explain complex technical concepts in terms understandable to non-technical end users
Excellent analytical skills to translate workflow and application concepts to a curriculum
Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills in professional English
