What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Koppers Inc.?
Job Responsibilities
- Receives samples from various plant locations to conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests and analysis
- Compiles and interprets results of tests and analyses
- Prepares chemical solution products and processes following standardized formulas
- Inventories materials
- 5S; Maintains and cleans laboratory, Instruments, and equipment
- Writes and records all laboratory tests and analyses: logbooks, controlled forms, LIMS & Microsoft Access Systems
- Discards all recycled and waste material
- Watches gauges, dials, and other indicators when performing testing: GC; HPLC; Karl Fisher; Brookfield Viscometer; Color Tests; Coking Value; Softening Point; Distillation; etc.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, RC 14001, ASTM, AWPA, Koppers Methods, SDS
Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements
- 3 years of lab experience and/or 2 years of higher education with a focus area in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Engineering Preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and LIMS systems
- Strong Communication Skills
- Self-Motivated, ability to determine when testing instrumentation is malfunctioning.
