This forward-thinking company is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join their team.
This position reports to the Operations manager.

Schedule : Monday-Friday
What You Will Do :
- Guide, enforce, and implement EH&S processes to ensure company and employee compliance with environmental, health, and safety practices.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, California EPA, DOT, San Diego County APCD, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain and prepare applications for all required environmental permits (e.g., Air Permit, Industrial Wastewater Discharge).
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce all environmental, health, and safety policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Administer and maintain the ISO 14001-based environmental management system and necessary environmental practices.
- Execute and support 5S methodology to create an organized, productive, and clean workplace.
- Identify and eliminate occupational and environmental hazards through compliance with EHS laws, regulations, and standards.
- Recommend and implement safety devices and redesign machines to eliminate occupational hazards; communicate on-site safety requirements to contractors.
- Complete and submit routine reports to regulatory agencies and respond to customer requests for product compliance statements.
- Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and agencies; develop and implement EHS training programs to ensure compliance and reduce workplace hazards.
- Conduct safety training for all new hires and short-term contractors; collaborate with management to cultivate a strong safety culture and report any EHS impacts.
- Actively participate in and document monthly EHS meetings.
- Research and implement innovative waste handling and treatment systems to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Do You Have :
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene or related field from an accredited institution or 5 years of active work experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
- 1-2 years of relevant environmental safety and occupational safety and health experience in a manufacturing environment.
- OSHA 30 Hour, Title 22, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, 40-hour HAZWOPER (including annual refresher), 49 CFR DOT HM, and Powered Industrial Lift Truck Trainer certifications.
Familiar with ISO 14001 Standards.
- Certified safety designation of some type (ASP or CSP desired; COSM, CSHM, CSMP acceptable).
- Proficient in Office365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Trained in first aid and CPR
- Skilled in reading and comprehending complex regulations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication abilities
- Effective interpersonal and presentation skills
- Team-oriented and highly collaborative
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task, shift priorities, and meet deadlines

Work Environment :
Approximately 50% of time in a controlled environment office setting and 50% of time in the
production area.
- Frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
