The Role:
The EHS Lead will be responsible for establishing and maintaining policies and procedures, which will promote and maintain safe and healthful working conditions for employees. Responsible for the following:
•Conduct safety studies where necessary to identify and recognize workplace hazards, developing appropriate corrective actions to assure remediation and facilities compliance.
•Prepare facility documentation to facilitate Corporate Internal EH&S audits.
•Develop, track, and deliver and related training and educational programs to affected personnel.
•Conduct audits of the for the purpose of detecting existing or potential compliance issues and/or accident and health hazards and recommend preventive measures where indicated to assure compliance with Company Policy and other governmental regulations.
•Review and maintain the facility chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) via a web based SDS inventory program
•Maintain Company policies and procedures in accordance with Corporate, local, state and federal regulations.
•Maintain facility environmental compliance according to facility operating permits issued by regulatory agencies.
•Perform regulatory reporting for environmental, health and safety as required by local, state, and federal requirements.
•Continue to develop and foster a “Culture of Safety” with facility employees.
•Administer special workplace safety initiatives, accident reduction programs, joint union-management safety committees.
•Oversee company relationships with vendors providing EH&S related services.
•Manage the identification, selection and approval of safety equipment and devices for use throughout the Company.
•Assists in the study and root cause analyses of industrial accidents and/or illnesses, recommending appropriate corrective actions, assuring continued compliance.
•Manage the facility Workers’ Compensation and Return-To-Work Program, to include the coordination of medical treatment for workplace injuries.
•Perform other duties as directed to support the Vice President Quality Assurance, EH&S, and Ethics Officer, production management team and overall business operations.
•Support the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
Required:
Bachelors of Science degree in a related field (Environmental Engineering/Science, Safety Engineering, or equivalent); 3-5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with industrial safety, accident investigation and prevention, and related governmental regulations (i.e.) OSHA, DEP, EPA, NFPA, local, state and other federal regulations. Ability to systematically analyze hazards and recommend corrective actions where required. Experience with identifying and resolving ergonomic risk. High level of organizational skill. Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to speak to large groups. Experience with conducting hands-on training. Familiarity with electrical safety and OSHA machine guarding.
Preferred:
•5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
•Experience submitting environmental compliance documentation (permit applications/renewals, compliance reporting, OSHA 300, OSHA 300A, OSHA 301, SPCC inspections)
•ASP or CSP certification.
•OSHA Electrical safety program implementation and management a plus.
•Experience with behavior based safety systems.
•Experience with ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma tools
•DOT Hazardous Waste Shipper Certification
•First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications
