Software Engineer - Aerospace/Defense

The Role:

• Functions as lead engineer on programs assigned and acts as the subject matter expert.
  
• Represents the company at customer meetings and may be required to travel to a customer location for short periods (1-2 days).
  
• Reviews customer specifications or requirements and prepares technical proposal information. Also responsible for the development of engineering cost estimates.
  
• Initiates applications of new technology and processes into software design/production.
  
• Generates design concepts, design trade‑off studies and prepares presentations for design or customer reviews.
  
• Interacts frequently with customers, business partners and vendors coordinating technical, cost and product matters.
  
• Follows and oversees initial build and production software through procurement, fabrication, and test phases.
  
• Reviews, writes, and approves necessary documentation. As necessary, the incumbent will initiate design reviews which will include representatives from design and manufacturing (inside and outside vendors/partners when applicable).
  
• The incumbent will produce design documentation such as technical reports, user manuals, and data sheets for software products.
  
• Designs complex software using modern design methods to include agile methods.
  
• The incumbent will be required to effectively communicate and convince people, customers, management, and vendors, on the relative merits of various issues.
