What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNO position at KPC GLOBAL MEDICAL CENTERS INC.?

To ensure that the highest level of patient care possible is provided in a cost-effective manner. To evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care and staff development. To keep informed of nursing care trends, new technology, and related development.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate the following functions:

  • Development of hospital wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patients’ nursing needs, or the needs of patient populations receiving nursing care, treatment and services, are assessed, evaluated and met.
  • Development and implementation of the hospital’s plans for providing nursing care, treatment and services to those patients requiring nursing care, treatment and services.
  • Participation with governing board, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the hospital’s decision making structures and processes
  • Implementation of an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment and services delivered to patients


Approve nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards of patient care, treatment, and services, and standards of nursing practice before implementation.

Is responsible for ensuring that nursing policies, procedures, and standards describe and guide how the nursing staff provides the nursing care, treatment, and services required by all patients and patient populations served by the hospital and as defined.

Provide effective and coordinated leadership to deliver nursing care, treatment, and services. Evaluate the performance of the various nursing departments and the performance of key managers and supervisors. Encourage and maintain open lines of communication with and between employee groups, medical staff, patients, and their family members.

Establish the operating budget for the nursing division, including staffing plans. Monitor and control performance against budget.

Establish short and long term recruitment, and retention strategies to meet projected staffing level requirements. May coordinate with the Human Resources department for recruiting.

Assist in formulating short and long term plans for new or expanded nursing services.

Review all regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.

Participate in defined and established meetings of the hospital’s corporate leader and with other clinical and managerial leadership.

Attend promptly to the administrative details of the position, including the signing of documents, preparation of reports, completion of performance appraisals, and other employee related actions.

Evaluate the performance of the various nursing departments and the performance of key managers and supervisors.

Encourage and maintain open lines of communication with and between employee groups, medical staff, patients and their families.


Requirements:


California RN License and Masters Degree in Nursing or equivalent required.


At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in nursing management preferred.


A patient care provider will possess knowledge training, experience, and be competent in the following, specific to the age of patients serviced: the ability to obtain and interpret information; a knowledge of growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatments needed by these patients. The patients served include all age groups as follow: neonates pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
