Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant / Bookeeper to manage our organization’s financial records. Working with our third-party accounting firm the person will be responsible for recording all financial transactions, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record Financial Transactions:
- Maintain accurate records of all daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Input financial data into accounting software.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile all bank accounts and credit card statements regularly.
- Monitor and resolve any discrepancies in accounting records.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, including generating invoices, collecting payments, and processing vendor payments.
- Ensure timely payments and follow-up on overdue accounts.
- Payroll Processing:
- Assist in processing payroll, ensuring all employee wages and benefits are accurate.
- Maintain payroll records.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist, as needed, our third-party accounting firm prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Assist in financial audits and provide data as requested by management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in entering budgets and forecasts for future financial planning.
- Provide insights and recommendations for cost-saving measures.
- Tax Preparation:
- Collaborate with external accountants or tax advisors for year-end tax filings.
- Provide necessary tax documents and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations to third-parties as needed.
- Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial legislation and best practices.
- Maintain Financial Records:
- Organize and maintain financial documents, both physical and digital.
- Backup all financial data regularly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Ad hoc duties:
- Assist with various administrative tasks and projects as needed.
- Provide support during the implementation of new financial systems or procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Accountant / Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in bookkeeping or accounting is a plus.
- Experience in tax preparation or payroll management is an advantage.
- Previous experience is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid role with typical office environment.
- 16-20 hours per week with flexible working hours, depending on company needs
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
