Job Position Description:

The ideal candidate will be a newsroom leader who consistently leads by example. The Weekend Anchor/Investigative Reporter must have a strong on-air presence and embrace going live. Candidate must have proven experience developing contacts and breaking news stories. This person must not be afraid to dig and go after public records. This candidate will join an award-winning and dominate investigative team in the market. Shooting and editing experience is a required. We are looking for someone who sets the tone with credible journalism, can develop a connection with our viewers and create memorable moments in our newscasts. You must have a winning attitude and want to compete for the "big story" every day. The Weekend Anchor/Investigative Reporter will work closely with our weekend producer to create compelling newscasts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be a newsroom leader
• Attend the daily editorial meeting and pitch stories
• Establish and maintain news contacts in the community
• Shoot, write and edit news stories on tight time schedules
• Anchor newscasts, cut ins and breaking news coverage
• Enterprise special reports
• Be a regular contributor on various social media platforms and engage with the public
• Stay informed about content via competitive websites and follow social media on a regular basis

Requirements:

• A. or B.S. Degree preferably in journalism or English or equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of experience in television news reporting
• Experience producing newscasts a plus
• Good attitude and team player
• Strong on-air presentation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Required to cover news stories from the field
• Good driving record

Annual Salary Range:

$55,000 ; based on experience. Exempt.

KRDO is in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado, near the base of Pikes Peak, along the front range of the Rocky Mountains, and close to Garden of the Gods. Colorado Springs is often rated as one of the country’s best cities to live in. It is a big city with a small-town feel, with Castle Rock and Denver within an hour’s drive.
