As we continue to grow, we seek a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Finance to join our team and lead our financial operations, including the implementation of Sage software for one of our divisions.
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Finance will oversee all aspects of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls. This role involves leading the implementation of Sage software to enhance our financial systems and processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement in accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the accounting department, including financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives and initiatives.
2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee the preparation of regulatory filings and compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
3. System Implementation:
- Lead the implementation of Sage software, ensuring the system meets the company’s financial reporting and operational needs.
- Develop and execute a detailed project plan for the Sage implementation, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Train and support staff on the new system to ensure a smooth transition and effective use of Sage software.
4. Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to the executive team.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
5. Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting and financial reporting.
- Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with the implementation and management of Sage software or similar ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
