Position title

Shipping Loader (KM9310)

Conover, NC

Essential Functions (state the activities that are essential to job success; begin each statement with an activity verb and end with some purpose; group like or similar activities under a common heading)

Ensures trailers are clean and looks for possible damage before loading furniture;

Before wrapping furniture, checks for cleanliness, check pillows and cushions for proper placement and ensure there are correct warranty tags, labels and shipping tickets;

Attaches cushion straps and moves furniture unit to wrapper;

Covers furniture units with proper wrapping materials for shipping and moves units to loading personnel;

Pulls ship tickets, dumps buggies, and moves furniture units to trailer for loading;

Ties off all bed units in trailer according to safety procedures;

Places protection material between stacks, floors and side panels when loading trucks;

Closes trailer door and places seals on door locks;

Recommend measures to improve quality standards;

Practice safe work habits and observe plant safety rules;

Maintain a clean work area;

Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

Prepares and loads furniture units on outbound trailers.

• Must have good attendance record and past record of dependability.
• Must have the ability to communicate and work well with other departments (particularly shipping and receiving coordinators).
• Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in/or from standardized situations.
• Calculate surfaces, volumes, weights, and measures. Understands kinds of angles, and properties of pairs of angles.
• Write simple sentences. Compare similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.

Education (state the level of education necessary for position success; state not what the incumbent possesses, but what is required)

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience (state the level of experience necessary for position success)

A minimum of 1 year furniture related (office) experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.25 - $15.50 per hour
