What are the responsibilities and job description for the International Operations Supervisor position at Krones, Inc?
The International Operations Supervisor, which is a working supervisor position, will have primary day-to-day responsibilities of executing most international shipping functions. This includes ensuring all assigned tasks are completed by performing and/or assigning work to the international team of associates. Tasks include, but not limited to, international order processing and shipping, quality audits, international hazardous material shipping, and associated software systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe environment for associates and visitors; communicate and enforce safety and environmental policies; serve as a role model in safety and 5S compliance. Manage all safety issues to ensure adherence to established processes, conduct root cause and preventative actions, and to report all incidents to management in a timely manner. Each associate is to place environment, health and safety requirements as the first priority in the performance of their work duties.
- Supervise personnel through established process(es) to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. Manage overtime and throughput based on daily operational commitments.
- Communicate relevant department and Company information in a timely and accurate manner to ensure staff is adequately informed and trained. Encourage feedback/suggestions from subordinates and peers. Demonstrate a cooperative, courteous, and respectful manner towards all internal and external customers.
- Fosters positive associate relations, while ensuring Company vision, mission and core values are met.
- Establish sound priorities and set goals in order to achieve desired results within appropriate timeframes. Recommend improvements to systems and procedures to enhance efficiency of workflow and quality of output.
- Manage and process all international hot/rush shipments to ensure all are shipped to meet customer’s requirements while aligning with departmental polices and process requirements.
- Managing the use, update, and/or creation of standard operating procedures and/or work instructions in regards to international customer profiles.
- Direct policy compliance and effectively communicating across all levels of the organization including senior executives and functional groups.
- Use professional development tools (self-study, etc.) to enhance management, technical and supervisory skills. Encourage/allow staff to develop and grow within the scope of their responsibilities and personal/professional goals.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 5-7 years in a warehouse/logistics and international processing and shipping environment and at least 2-3 years as a supervisor supervising more than three (3) associates in tasks to include but not limited to international shipping via small parcel, third-party logistics firms, and freight forwarding. Experience in international shipping compliance and various licensing requirements is essential in this complex, service-driven organization. Bachelor’s degree in associated field is preferred.
- Computer ability in a Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) environment is required. Knowledge of enterprise resource planning software SAP is required.
- Must be able to perform work of a technical and involved nature requiring the use of judgment and independent critical thinking where only general procedures apply.
- Excellent team-building, operational, problem-solving, organizational and planning skills are required, including the ability to conduct formal presentations, prepare written documentation, etc.
- Great people skills and supervisory skills of a diverse workforce is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Periods of mental concentration are required to analyze, plan, visualize layout, meet deadlines, etc.
- Equipment use includes copy machine, telephone, fax, PC, calculator.
- Limited physical effort is required and work is performed under generally good working conditions in an office atmosphere. Daily exposure to plant/shop (30 – 40%). Protective gear, safety glasses, and steel toes shoes are required.
- Standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, lifting/carrying objects (under 50#) is required for 30% of time. A medium level of data entry is also required.
- Appropriate OSHA training is required.
- Certification in international hazardous material shipments is preferred.
- Forklift training/certification is preferred but will train the right candidate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
