The Accounting Coop position is responsible for assisting the Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting teams in performing day to day tasks & responsibilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in reconciling and controlling mill transfers and mill inventory accounts. Daily production is reconciled between SAP & MES systems.
- Assist in reconciling book inventory values to physical counts. This includes ensuring that physical inventories are taken as required, that book inventory is reconciled to physical, and that all transactions affecting inventory accounts are properly recorded.
- Assist Cost Accounting and AP teams w/ month-end closing as needed.
- Match with expediency, suppliers’ invoices to purchase orders, and receiving slips and processing same for payment
- Follow up on outstanding invoices, and unmatched PO’s
- Maintain continual flow of work through Accounts Payable
- Review, reconcile and maintain vendor files and statements
- Additional responsibilities as assigned due to business changes
- Support other accounting functions (such as payroll) as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years from completing university degree or equivalent education program in business and/or Finance and Accounting.
- Must possess good analytical skills and be experienced in using Excel and large application systems.
- Must have good inter-personal and communication skills to deal with a variety of people throughout the organization.
- SAP knowledge is desired for this position.
- Should be detail oriented and a self-starter.
- Requires good time management skills to deal with several tasks and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of most business functions, with a focus on sales, marketing, and costing.
