Description:
The successful candidate must possess general knowledge of land surveying principles and practices; must be able to perform under the direction of the Project Surveyor and coordinate the activities of the field crew; and performs other duties, including overseeing the effective performance and safety of all members of the field crew, use of equipment, and field safety procedures. In addition, must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with our staff and the general public. The successful candidate must be able to gather field survey data through the use of both conventional Total Station with data collectors and Global Navigational Satellite System (GNSS) methodologies. The candidate must also set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment; prepare field notes and sketches; and perform field surveying for roadways, railroads, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying and construction stakes, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, rights-of-way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines. To perform the essential functions of the job, the position may be require moderately strenuous tasks, such as lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 50 pounds over rough terrain, and may also require to clear vegetation, dig holes, pound stakes with a sledge hammer, and operate hand and electric tools. Candidate must have minimum High School Diploma and possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
