Hello, this is Chris Barry, KSA’s Survey Manager and I am currently looking to expand KSA’s survey capability through the addition of a survey crew. We have an immediate need for an experienced, dedicated and steadfast instrumentman. If you live in or near Longview, Texas and are interested in staying close to home, this position is right for you. Our crews report to KSA’s Longview office daily. We are looking for someone that has exceptional standards for surveying work and takes great pride in getting the job done, and done right.
There are some particular qualities that we are looking for in a Survey Instrumentman. You need to have experience as a survey instrumentman. Experience with topographic, boundary and construction surveys are critical to the success of this role. In addition, experience with staking pipelines and well locations in the oil and gas industry would be beneficial. Requirements
The Instrumentman will assist the Survey Party Chief by helping to measure various engineering, construction, or oil/gas sites while using a GPS system and total station to collect pertinent field data.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ability to set up survey equipment, total station, GPS, etc.
- Ability to perform functions such as inverse, stake a line, translate, and rotate coordinates in a field setting
- Able to read plat or metes and bounds description
- Locate property corners
- Utilize level rod, prism pole, or tape at designated points to assist in determining location and elevations of various features
- Must be able to calibrate prism rod
- Layout stakes for map-making, construction land and other surveys
- Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with machete
- Carry instruments, field equipment, hammers, stakes, nails, etc.
- Carry out instructions and tasks assigned by Party Chief
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in surveying
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Able to work as part of a cohesive team
- Reacts well under pressure and accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions
- Basic math skills and reading numerals
- Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record
- Must have the ability to stand, crawl, and kneel for long periods of time
- Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
