Job Title : Human Resource Generalist I

Department : Human Resources

Reports to : Human Resource Business Partner Operations

Location : Grovetown, GA

FLSA Status : Salary Exempt

Shift : 1

Purpose of Position :

The Human Resource Generalist I is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support and assistance to ensure the effective functioning of the HR areas assigned.

This position involves handling various HR tasks while maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist I works closely with HR Business Partner, other HR team members, managers, and employees to promote a positive work environment and ensure the smooth operation of HR processes.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Recruitment and Selection :
  • Manages job postings, assists with screening / sending resumes, and communicates with candidates
  • Manages scheduling of background checks, drug screens, and physicals
  • OFCCP Tracking in conjunction with manager feedback
  • Coordinates new hire orientation and ensures all necessary paperwork is completed
  • Conducts exit interviews and facilitates the offboarding process
  • Works with staffing agency (MAU) for temporary hiring (system entry, etc.) and rolling temporary employees to GIW
  • Temporary employee timecards
  • Communication
  • Employee Development :
  • Coordinates and tracks completion of hourly employee performance evaluation processes
  • HR Support
  • Orders flowers for funerals when employees lose a loved one
  • Electronic filing
  • Assist employees with updates on tax withholdings, direct deposit changes, etc.
  • Work at the Thomson location 1 day per week to provide HR support to that Operations team
  • Timekeeping
  • Process vacation sell-backs
  • Answer payroll / timekeeping related questions
  • HRIS system management :
  • Maintains various filing systems (Workday, ADP, Kronos, and UKG) and ensures records are accurate and up to date
  • Updates employee records to reflect personnel changes, promotions, and terminations; including shift and cost center changes
  • Data Bridge review for ADP
  • Benefits Administration :
  • Supports benefits enrollment processes and assists employees with benefits inquiries
  • Assists employees when making changes to benefit elections and ensures updated paperwork is collected and filed
  • Compliance and Policies :
  • Stays updated on changes in employment laws, regulations, and labor laws
  • Works in accordance with HR policies and procedures
  • HR Projects and Initiatives :
  • Contributes to HR team projects such as employee engagement surveys, data audits, or policy reviews
  • Assists with HR-related communication and employee engagement initiatives
  • Collaborates with HR team members on process improvements and best practices

Education and Experience :

  • Associates degree in Human Resources or related field, OR equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources

Knowledge and Skills :

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP, Workday, UKG, Kronos) and MS Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of HR best practices, policies, and employment laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling HR data
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines, able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities
