Job Description - Product Manager II REPORTS TO: Lead Product Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION: Product Management plays a key role at the intersection of customer/market requirements and the product development and production activities that ultimately serve these needs. The main goals of the Product Manager are to: • Seek out the voice of the customer and carry it throughout the organization • Develop a product roadmap focused on customer needs and aligned with company goals • Facilitate and improve the cross functional processes which are critical to delivering on our promises • Foster a culture of excellence and innovation which will enable us to exceed our customers’ expectations This position will be responsible for managing the GIW® Slurry Pumps LSA range and related product lines for the Dredge market. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Guided, self-performed and/or delegated as determined by grade Collect Market Feedback • Actively seek out and gather customer feedback through direct communication and sales channels • Monitor market performance of assigned products • Understand and continually seek new knowledge of the markets and applications where assigned products are used, as well as the competitive environment in which they are applied • Organize and coordinate calls, meetings, and visits as needed to establish and maintain open communication Define Product Requirements • Maintain a roadmap and platform for each assigned product based on organizational goals and product positioning and alignment strategy • Develop and maintain functional specifications for assigned product ranges and lead in the definition and establishment of such specifications for new products • Own the product vision and communicate it throughout the organization • Organize and define customer specific product specifications and oversee their execution from development all the way through commissioning and operation • Screen and develop new ideas, managing and prioritizing their development in alignment with organizational goals and strategy • Develop business plans and strategies for product marketing and sourcing, in coordination with sales and operations, based on the market requirements of each product Pricing • Establish and maintain list prices based on market requirements and optimization of revenues and contribution margin • Monitor and manage costs and complexity through project based strategic initiatives and ongoing product maintenance • Perform business analyses in support of new products and new partnerships Product Launch • Organize and deliver product training and demos to internal and external customers and enable the relay of key product training by front-end sales personnel through comprehensive training programs and documentation • Understand and communicate the unique value proposition for all assigned products • Seek out new applications and regions for existing products • Promote and manage field trials for new products and/or markets • Act as Project Manager in support of specific product initiatives, prototype development, and business process improvements Product Maintenance and Life Cycle Management • Establish and maintain product configurations based on market needs to exceed customer expectations in all facets (price, lead time, quality) in a sustainable and profitable manner • Manage product changes, upgrades, and phase in / phase out activities • Manage and support licensees and seek out new strategic partnerships in support of the global supply chain Cross-Functional Support • Maintain and share product expertise through documentation, training, and direct communication • Ensure the availability, accuracy, relevance, and consistency of product documentation and related materials • Bring the voice of the customer to all aspects of product design, manufacture, and cross-functional processes • Facilitate and expedite cross-functional communication to improve customer-focused results • Support operations in establishing reliable forecasting for effective inventory planning and global supply chain management • Support marketing communications in generating press releases, promotional materials, and content for trade shows and conferences (including participation) • Support sales in quotation, market analysis, and scope management activities Process Implementation, Improvement, and Management • Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions for department and cross-functional processes • Initiate, organize, and participate in the establishment of new processes and related improvement efforts • Identify, coordinate, and lead project based improvement efforts throughout the organization SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPECTATIONS: Technology • MS Office (Proficient) • SAP or similar (Proficient) • Minitab or similar (Familiar) Knowledge • Engineering Fundamentals • Economics and Marketing (Familiar) • Statistics (Familiar) Language • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication • English (Fluent) • Foreign (Preference) Leadership • Peer Leader • Team Builder Managerial • None Travel • Up to 15% (portions unaccompanied) EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE: Education and Certifications • 4 year degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline OR • 4 year non-technical degree with relevant skills/training Experience • 3 to 5 years in centrifugal pumps and/or mining KSB Group is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
