Growthland is looking for a Swine Property Manager to join their swine management division. They are headquartered in Marion, Iowa and focus on agriculture property and businesses, amongst several other industries. They specialize in Appraisals, Ag Property Management, Real Estate & Business Brokerage, and Advising.
The Swine Property Manager’s (PM) main role is to maintain the assets of Growthland’s clients. This includes sourcing and training labor, regular maintenance checks at facilities, coordinating third-party maintenance when necessary, and ensuring pig owner standards are met in the caring of the animals on site. The PM is the catalyst between the pig owner, barn owner, and caretaker.
The candidate would ideally be around the Anamosa area with 20 to 30 miles.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Caretaker Oversight
- Hire and train caretakers to manage modern swine facilities
- Work closely with pig owners to ensure caretakers are meeting expectations for the caring of pig owners’ animals
- Ensure caretaker has all necessary resources to perform duties; this includes animal health products, functioning equipment, and necessary supplies
- Must be familiar with PQA standards and necessary paperwork
- Regular site visits to provide caretaker with input and assistance
- Assist caretakers with sourcing part-time help when needed
- Maintaining and Developing Relationships
- PM must be able to provide open and professional communication with current working partners
- Develop additional relationships that are mutually beneficial for Growthland and partners. I.E.-barn owners, builders and suppliers, labor resources, pig owners, etc.
- Provide information on services provided and refer potential customers
- Develop swine management portfolio
- Maintain relationships with current barn and pig owners
- Assist with barn construction
- Work with pig owners to provide fill date
- Provide management with current reports
- Industry standards and practices
- Ensure proper documentation of records
- Become a PQA advisor, training provided
- Attend workshops and trade shows
- Ensure emergency backups are functioning and maintenance plans are completed
- Setup ventilation systems and troubleshoot as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in animal science or other related major
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in swine industry preferred
- Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) training
- Prior leadership experience

- PQA advisor training preferred
- Understanding of modern swine industry
- Barn ventilation basics and troubleshooting
