SUMMARY

Journal entry preparation, cash account entries, account analysis and reconciliations, audit preparation and internal control maintenance will be among your duties as an Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an international organization covering different finance and accounting processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform month end close functions including journal entry postings and post-close balance analysis.
  • Work with the organization to ensure that entries into assigned balance sheet accounts are correct and processes have the proper controls.
  • Formulate Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and monitor bank transactions.
  • Confirm and complete daily bank journal entries through an automated process.
  • Support annual financial audit.
  • Prepare tax filings and support (federal, state/provincial, city tax, 1099s, etc).
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Generally, requires a minimum of two to three (2-3) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting in a high-volume accounting department.

  • Understanding of the key Accounting principles (IFRS and/or US GAAP)
  • Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
  • ERP systems knowledge in SAP is a plus.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in finance or equivalent experience in related field preferred. CPA, MBA or Big 4 experience preferred.

  • Sound communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with operating management, with a strong service orientation. Capable to explain issues and recommend solutions.
  • Pro-active, self-motivated and action oriented.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None.

CONTACTS:

Internal: collaborate with all departments within the Company (local and HQ), all levels of Company staff from line to executive.

External: Financial and tax auditors and consultants and bank representatives.

 

JUDGEMENT/REASONING ABILITY: Ability to recognize discrepancies and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise, and diplomacy.  Requires ability to use judgment and reasoning skills and determine when issues need to be escalated.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise in the work environment is usually moderate. Other factors are:

  • Ability to travel if needed. Travel is minimal (<5 % annually) in this position.
  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions.
  • Professional, yet casual office work environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as required.
