Job purpose
- Designs, develops and improves logistics processes by studying product and layout methods then optimizes space and work procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develops material handling processes with the primary focus being operator safety by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors for optimization.
- Improves manufacturing productivity by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout in accordance with Kubota’s 5-Gen Principles.
- Reviews and improves the sequence picking processes by evaluating and then implementing appropriate changes.
- Assist in the optimization of packaging for parts.
- Provides decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; estimating future requirements.
- Manages project related activities in a transparent way for new programs or changes to existing programs. Scope including but not limited to timing, budgets, design details, team coordination, quotations, vendor procurement coordination.
- Prepares process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. .
- Supports manufacturing to achieve safety, productivity and quality targets through process design, optimization projects and Kaizen initiatives.
- Completes implementation of new or revised processes by training technicians.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by supporting other team members as capacity issues arise.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Packaging Engineering
- Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work with little to no oversight
- Excellent communication skills (listening, writing and speaking)
- Ability to analyze, problem solve and make sound decisions
- Strong aptitude for organization, prioritization and managing multiple tasks at the same time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in AutoCAD, MS Access or SQL
- Experience Engineering in manufacturing field
