Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision through the fitting and dispensing of eyewear. As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service while ensuring that all optical needs are met. Your expertise in ophthalmology and optical practices will contribute to the overall success of our clinic.
Hours include Saturdays 8:45-1:30
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions and lifestyle needs.
- Accurately fit and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure comfort and proper vision correction.
- Maintain knowledge of current eyewear trends, lens technologies, and optical products.
- Perform necessary measurements for fitting lenses, including pupillary distance and segment height.
- Educate patients on proper care and use of eyewear, including contact lens hygiene.
- Process orders for eyewear and manage inventory levels to ensure availability of products.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in optical technology, medical coding, and retail math.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, aseptic techniques, and retail sales practices.
- Familiarity with medical coding is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience working with pediatric or senior care populations is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
