Kustom Diesel Repair is looking for a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to disassemble, assemble, maintain and repair vehicles as well as trailers. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems.You must be able to work with various machines, equipment and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
Responsibilities
- Performs service, maintenance, repair and overhaul in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations
- Ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace
- Performs equipment repairs in response to maintenance requests, in shop or in field locations
- Repairs heavy equipment, removing/replacing components
- Uses diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct equipment faults
- Performs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic analyses and diagnoses
- Operates shop equipment including cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools, and tire servicing equipment
- Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling and PPE
- Works rotating on-call duties including assisting with recoveries on wreckers
- Assist other KDR and KDT employees as needed
Requirements and Skills
- Must have own tools
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on instruction, work with minimal supervision
- High school diploma/GED and recent experience in repairing and maintaining heavy diesel trucks and equipment
- Preference of a CDL
- Knowledge and proper use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory
- Must know theory and principles of engine operations and accessories and components
