Position Summary-The union payroll administrator position is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a periodic payroll, and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees, as well as completing monthly reporting to appropriate union agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Secondary contact for new and potential employees
2. Collect and process new employee paperwork when necessary
3. Maintain all payroll and union records
4. Collect and summarize timekeeping information
5. Obtain supervisory approval of timecard discrepancies
6. Process garnishment requests
7. Process employee advances and paybacks
8. Process and close weekly payrolls
9. Print and issue paychecks
10. Process direct deposit payments
11. Calculate and deposit payroll taxes
12. Process all union paperwork and reporting
13. Certified payroll knowledge is preferred
14. Experience with the Department of Industrial Relations and prevailing wage is preferred
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education/Experience: A High School Diploma and 2 years of union payroll and reporting is required.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as financial and interest calculations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and Google.
Certificates and Licenses: No certifications required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports.
