The Benefit Specialist, will be responsible for administering and managing employee benefits programs within our organization. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring our employees understand and utilize their benefits effectively, while also serving as a liaison between employees and benefit providers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of employee benefit programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
* Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in benefits systems accurately and in a timely manner.
* Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefit programs.
* Conduct audits of benefits packages and policies to ensure compliance with government regulations and plan guidelines.
* Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and provide ongoing education to employees about their benefit options.
* Coordinate with insurance providers and other vendors to resolve issues and ensure the smooth administration of benefits programs.
* Stay up to date on changes in benefits regulations and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
* Assist with annual benefits open enrollment process, including communication materials, meetings, and system updates.
* Analyze benefits data and prepare reports for management as needed.
* Collaborate with the team on special projects and initiatives related to employee benefits.
* Support payroll processing and serve as a payroll backup when needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in benefits administration or related HR role preferred.
Strong understanding of employee benefits regulations, such as ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and COBRA.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex benefit concepts to employees at all levels.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Payroll experience is a plus.
Certification in benefits administration (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
