TITLE: Quality Assurance Specialist

REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager

SUMMARY: Maintains quality standards for produce and directs the efforts for L&M with its suppliers and affiliates in achieving these levels; works closely with QA Manager and sales to assure proper product quality, accurate response to customer requirements, and recommends distributors from which to purchase product.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hand selects product for orders at outside facilities
  • Assists sales in finding additional sources for product
  • Leads trucks and bobtails to outside locations for loading
  • Expedites the loading process by assisting with getting dock space and getting accurate info to dispatch personnel
  • Confirms bill of ladings from outside suppliers
  • Alert QA Manager to supply situation - distributors that have excess product or that are short
  • Recognize and forward information on exceptional packs to QA Manager
  • Helps QA Manager to maintain a comprehensive database on what product and quality is available from which distributors on all items
  • Some travel required

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken, required
  • Strong, positive communication skills
  • Knowledgeable and current in customer standards and regulations
  • Detail-oriented self-starter
  • Extensive product knowledge
  • Personal transportation, insurance, and valid Driver’s License required
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred
  • Three or more years fresh produce quality assurance experience required
  • Specific commodity experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
