L Strong Group Home LLC – Staff Worker Job Description JOB SUMMARY: The staff worker is responsible for aiding in daily living tasks, personal care and support, and ensuring the personal safety and welfare of physically disabled, medically and behaviorally challenged individuals in a residential setting while serving as an effective role model. Hours are 3 pm to 11 pm Monday through Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years of age and provide 3 professional references. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, or 1 year full-time equivalent experience in the direct provision of care to children. Must complete Residential Program Worker or equivalent training(will provide training). Must be CPR/First Aid Certified (will train). Must have experience working with individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities and a strong ability to effectively communicate with those individuals. Must submit to a pre-employment, annual, random, and for cause drug screen. Possession of a valid driver’s license for day-to-day job performance due to running errands requiring occasional to frequent local travel. Agency requires a criminal background check (BCI and FBI) as well as child abuse history clearance.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner while also demonstrating knowledge of childcare informed care practices.
  • Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the agency behavior management system.
  • Assists with residential functions such as helping the children complete the morning routine and transitioning children to and from destinations by before, during and after the school day.
  • Participate as needed in instruction, activities and routines, under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Assure that established routines are followed, for example: supervising meals and participating in recreational and physical education activities.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and order in the living unit.
  • Participate in treatment process for assigned children.
  • Encourage children in their academic pursuits, providing individualized support based on the needs of the children.
  • Maintain a log/utilize incident report process.
  • Assure that administrative and/or departmental expectations are met.
  • Ensure the completion of required assessments and data reporting in compliance with federal, state and agency regulations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to develop systems and practices that are inclusive of diverse staff members and responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served.
  • Work with adolescents with cultural and social differences
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of childcare and education.
  • Establish relationships with children and adolescents on a group and individual basis, gaining their trust & confidence.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
