What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator position at L&W Group?
Job Description
- Must be familiar with press operations.
- Installs and aligns dies in press according to specifications working with die setters.
- Set press controller to correct job.
- Set up and place coil on mandrel.
- Adjust coiler and straightener and runs coil through feeder.
- Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Runs strip and/or blanks through the die.
- Inspects stamped pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors including first piece.
- Cleans and maintains 5s standards at work station.
- Adds lubricants to press as needed.
- Catches, packs, and inspects parts.
- Operate Quality Gages.
- Fill out lot tags, production reports, and last piece approval tag.
- Reports any problems to Supervisor.
- Be able to identify all dies and part numbers for all prog presses.
- Be able to identify all coil labels to match die numbers for all prog jobs.
- Be able to band unfinished coils on all Prog presses.
- Be able to identify and use feeder, straightener, and press controls properly on all Prog presses.
- Be able to set up for proper flatness of steel on all Prog presses.
- Be able to identify the part container, the quantity of parts, and the proper labeling needed for each job on all Prog presses.
- Be able to change the date stamp in the die.
- Be able to trouble shoot tool vs. settings.
Ability to read and understand Die Protection Sensors.
