Job Description:
Drives the development, organization, administration, enforcement, and continuous improvement of all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. Specializes in specific Environmental, Health, and Safety functions as defined within the position duties and responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Act as the authority and subject matter expert in all areas of environmental, health, and safety. Interpret federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to environmental, health, and safety. Serve as the primary liaison between L3Harris and outside counsel, Corporate EHS, property insurance carrier, and regulatory officials on all environmental, health, and safety matters. Investigate and resolve environmental, health, and safety compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or other parties. Liase with contractors on all aspects of EHS.
- Ensure ownership of regulatory, corporate, and internal environmental, health, and safety responsibilities throughout all business functions. Develop written programs to define and training programs to disseminate these responsibilities. Audit work practices to ensure adherence by employees and enforcement by management.
- Manage the facility’s Environmental programs, including but not limited to: air emissions, air permitting, wastewater, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous and solid waste, and environmental sustainability.
- Manage the facility’s Occupational Safety programs, including but not limited to: advanced electrical safety, control of hazardous energy, confined spaces, fire safety and fire prevention, life safety, hazard communication, hazardous material handling and storage, toxic and hazardous substances, powered industrial trucks, PPE, walking and working surfaces, machine guarding, and welding/cutting/brazing. Create and implement safety hazard analysis reports as required by program contracts.
- Manage the facility’s Occupational Health programs, including but not limited to: industrial hygiene, radiation safety, ergonomics, first aid and CPR, bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, medical monitoring, and wellness. In conjunction with HR, oversee workers’ compensation case management and fitness for duty evaluations.
- Manage emergency response for fires, evacuations, injuries, illnesses, natural disasters, and chemical spills/releases in accordance with regulations and company procedures. Collects information and reports across the organization and with external regulatory agencies. Provide direction and input into business continuity, contingency, and recovery programs.
- Manage systematic EHS compliance audit program. Create action plans and assign ownership to ensure all findings are addressed as necessary. Utilize voluntary disclosure criteria to reduce regulatory impact of significant issues identified during audits.
- Ensure on-time and accurate completion and submission of all regulatory reports, regulatory correspondence, customer requests, and L3Harris Corporate EHS requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within scope of abilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in field relevant to EHS (including but not limited to: EHS, physiology, chemistry, toxicology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering) or equivalent work experience required.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field.
- Technical expertise in applicable EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
- Technical expertise in applicable ANSI, NFPA, and NIOSH standards.
- Must be eligible to obtain SECRET level clearance
